Will d’Ambruoso (he/him) has always felt at home in the classroom and among students. He loves helping students thrive and following their story through and beyond academia. Letters and updates from former students are among his favorite keepsakes.
A graduate of St. Olaf College in MN, Will taught math at independent schools in California and took additional classes at local community colleges. While teaching his way through a doctoral program in political science at UW Seattle, he became smitten with the San Juan Islands from the deck of a 40-year-old sailboat. After graduating, he moved back to his home state of Maine in 2016, where he taught and researched on topics in international politics for seven years at Bates College, Harvard Kennedy School, and Bowdoin College.
An opportunity to direct an education program – and hike, ski, and fish – at Holden Village, a community and retreat center in the North Cascades, brought Will back to Washington state. He is now excited to be sailing once more in the San Juan Islands and working at an institution that prizes academics and adventure.
