Indexed Tuition

Indexed Tuition (IT) is the tuition affordability model at Spring Street. The purpose of IT is to sustain socio-economic diversity in our school community. We know that sustaining diversity depends on an inclusive community and that creating an inclusive environment is our shared responsibility. We are committed to working individually with families to help make our school an affordable option through Indexed Tuition.

Spring Street is proud to use the Clarity Application to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts.

To get started, please go to the Clarity Application and create an account. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The Clarity Application is also mobile-friendly so you can complete it from anywhere. You are also able to save your progress and return at any time.

FAQs

Should every family submit an IT application? No. Only families who feel they are unable to pay full tuition should submit an application.

How is my family’s financial need determined? Clarity processes each submitted application and provides an analysis of a family’s finances. In its analysis, Clarity suggests a portion of discretionary income that a family can contribute towards the cost of a child’s education. The Spring Street’s Financial Aid Committee considers the recommendation of Clarity in combination with income/earnings statements, IRS 1040 forms, and any other submitted financial documentation.

The family contribution determined by Clarity is a starting point for the Financial Aid Committee. After considering any extenuating circumstances, together with Spring Street’s financial aid policies, the committee makes a final award decision.

Do families apply yearly for IT? Yes, you will need to submit a Clarity application each year to qualify for financial aid; however, Clarity retains your information from previous applications, so it will be even easier to reapply.  Generally, if your family’s financial situation remains consistent and you meet all of the deadlines, you can expect to receive a similar level of financial aid in future years.

Will my personal information be protected? The school works with families individually and maintains strict confidentiality.

What if parents are divorced or maintain different households? Financial need is determined based on the student’s entire family’s ability to pay tuition; therefore, Spring Street requires both parents and their spouses or domestic partners, if any, to participate in the tuition assistance application process. Each household must complete a separate, confidential Clarity Financial Aid application and provide required taxes and other documentation. Exceptions to this policy will be considered only for extraordinary circumstances and on a case-by-case basis. Neither the school nor Clarity will share confidential information between households.

Where do IT funds come from? The Indexed Tuition budget is comprised of funds from the annual operating budget, which primarily comes from tuition and donations.

We are an International family. Can we apply for financial aid? International families can apply for financial aid. Financial aid awards for international families typically do not exceed more than 50% of tuition.

If you do not file taxes in the United States or your primary source of income is not in US Dollars (USD), you still must fill out the Clarity Application. Please upload tax returns from your country, proof of income from your employer, and copies of bank statements for all bank accounts (checking, savings, money market, and other investment accounts).
