Island Inquiry is the focus of the Middle School Science Program with an emphasis on scientific literacy and inquiry — observing, investigating, interpreting, hypothesizing, communicating, predicting, and analyzing.  Designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to explore science concepts through the lens of inquiry, this 2-year curriculum class introduces the following topics: scientific method, inquiry, and investigation, basic chemistry, force and motion, electricity, watersheds, marine biology and island natural history. These concepts are investigated through observing, recording, analyzing, and presenting the results of the student’s scientific investigations. This class builds and evolves over the two-year period using student interests and passions to generate specific projects.
