After a decade in secondary education, Mike spent five years caretaking and work trading in the Hawaiian and San Juan Islands with his wife Tonia, and their children, Zalee and Finean. Randomly, or maybe synchronistically, the Schemmel and Prussack clans ended up camping on the same beach on Lopez Island and so began a conversation about Spring Street International School. Nearly a decade of teaching at Spring Street, Mike still finds himself challenged and invigorated by the community.
