Growing up between Santa Fe, New Mexico and Los Angeles, California, Lilly’s childhood was imbued with a sense of exploration, curiosity and adventure. From a very early age, Lilly was interested in teaching and education. In this way, education, adventure and travel became linked, which grew into a passion for early childhood education, social justice, cultural exploration, and experiential learning. Lilly graduated from Western Washington University’s Fairhaven College with a BS in Education, and a specific focus on culturally relevant educational modalities and experiential education tools. As an educator for the last 25 years, Lilly has worked in a variety of milieu including women’s shelters, concurrent education programs within Headstart programming, intergenerational learning groups, in-home program development for children on the autism spectrum, teacher training, school leadership and administration, parent education, and field studies programs. Lilly has had the incredible opportunity to live and work all over the world and throughout the United States, but is so grateful to be able to call San Juan Island home. When she is not working with students and families, you will often find her on a trail or beach with her husband, 10-year-old son, and rescue pup.
