Laughter is the language of the soul. –Pablo Neruda

People and their stories fascinate Heather. A fan of the creative power of the word, she believes that story is key to our survival and ability to thrive in this era of accelerated change. Another key is the study of the psyche. Heather believes that in cultivating our transformative nature and capacity for connection with others, we live more fully. She enjoys learning with students through travel and cultural exchange, through experience and reflection. Heather has been at Spring Street since 2008, and has taught English, Creative Writing, Philosophy, Literature of World Religions, AP Literature & Composition, and AP Psychology. She loves gardening in the islands, hiking with her husband Louis, snowboarding in the mountains, and singing around a campfire. A former gymnast, she enjoys kinesthetic education. “Movement and laughter are integral to the deepest learning.”  Heather’s son, Jed Lewis, graduated Spring Street in 2014.
