Tina Smith is the Director of Residential Life. She and her family live in the Hope House (the dormitory) and have been part of the Spring Street community for over seven years. She joined our faculty in 2018 after prior work as the Director of Family Ministry at the Friday Harbor Presbyterian Church and as a Certified Nursing Assistant in private care and hospice. Mothering three daughters, Maddie, Georgia, and Ava prepared her for the in loco parentis role of house parent. She enjoys creating a comfortable environment in the Hope House that feels like a home and spending time with the students. Tina loves road trips, good coffee, beach days, and hanging out with her family.

One time in class, I cried about the injustice of being dyslexic in this world. My teacher told me that she was going to make me a writer. She told me to pace around her classroom and talk to her about all the things I wished I was able to write over the years. She put the power back in my hands to be able to articulate myself using words, and I had gone my whole life without ever experiencing that.
