Paul Freedman is the father of two Spring Street alumni, Quinn ‘15 and Emma ‘19. He was an elementary classroom teacher for 28 years and is the co-Founder and Head of School at The Salmonberry School on Orcas Island. He is a Senior Editor of The Holistic Review, an open access scholarly peer review journal. He is the co-editor of Kinship Worldview: Indigenous Authors Going Deeper with Holistic Education. Paul serves on the faculty of TIES (The Institute for Educational Studies) where he also serves as the Assistant Academic Dean and the Director of the Integrative Learning MEd degree. He is the co-Founding Director of the Holistic Education Initiative and served as President of the Graduate Institute for Transformative Learning. Paul has been a passionate advocate and spokesperson for progressive and relationship-based education for many years.  His TEDx talk is entitled “Deep Education: Re-visioning Teaching and Learning for Today” Paul has served on several independent school boards. He is delighted to give back to Spring Street after nine years as a parent in this community.
