Jessica grew up on San Juan Island and attended Spring Street School for middle and high school, where she thrived in the smaller family-like environment and enjoyed both local and international travel. Afterwards she moved to NZ, where she obtained a science and veterinary degree. She worked in NZ as a mixed and small animal veterinarian as well as volunteering with veterinary programs overseas for several years, before moving back to the island in 2022. Having been on the SSS board in high school, Jessica rejoined the SSIS board and looks forward to supporting more generations of students in the opportunity to have a unique and supportive education.

My teachers have always told me to speak up, share my opinions. They have taught me how to be sassy. Not rude, not whiny, but confident and joyful. Full of opinions, ideas, and suggestions. My teachers have taught me how to write with authority and credibility, but mostly to express myself with integrity and authenticity. I have always been a good listener, but Spring Street taught me how to speak.
