Katya is from San Juan Island and is a Spring Street School alumna where she was able to pursue her love of art through printmaking and figure drawing under the inspiring guidance of Taylor Bruce. While an artist at heart, Katya’s interest in the sciences and the human body led her to pursue her B.S. in Chemistry from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN. As a student with a variety of passions and interests, she decided to leave the laboratory after completing her degree to seek a better balance between mind, body, and spirit. She went on to study massage therapy at Sage School of Massage and Esthetics in Bend OR, where she became a licensed massage therapist and physical therapy assistant. Her educational backgrounds provide a unique insight into the area of health and wellness and have developed into a passion for healing the body through diet, movement, and lifestyle. Katya is an NTP through the Nutritional Therapy Association. She enjoys being in nature, meditation, yoga, and using food as medicine. She is happy to have found a balance between her love of the arts and her passion for science while being able to influence a new generation of learners and thinkers.
