Independent Study/Senior Projects

The option for undertaking an independent study program in a specific subject area is available under certain circumstances:

  • A course that a student should be taking is not offered during the current year
  • A student’s schedule does not permit the taking of a course that is needed
  • A student needs to retake a course that was not successfully completed at SSIS
  • A student transferring to SSIS from another school may need to complete a program (e.g. French) that is not offered at Spring Street International School

An official grade can be entered on the Spring Street International School transcript only if mastery of the subject is verified by an appropriate staff member or designate regardless of the grade given by the organization or teacher overseeing the program. Such coursework may be used to satisfy a graduation requirement, but without faculty verification of mastery, neither the course nor the grade will be entered on the Spring Street International School transcript.
