High School Overview
High School (9 - 12)
Mathematics (4 years): Algebra I and II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, AP Calculus
English (4 years): English 9-12, including courses in World and American Literature, British Literature, Shakespeare, Expository and Creative Writing, Research Writing
Science (3 years, 2 lab): Biology, Chemistry, Physics, AP Environmental Science, and Biotechnology
Social Studies (4 years): U.S. History, World History, AP U.S. Government, Constitutional History, AP European History, AP Psychology, AP Human Geography, World Religions, Global Issues, Philosophy
Foreign Language (3 years): Spanish I, II, III, and independent study in other languages
Fine Arts (1 year): Art, Art History, AP Studio Art, Drama, Film Studies, and Photography
Some students take classes offered through the public school system, such as a foreign language or band.
Grading, Graduation Requirements
The grade point average is calculated on a standard 4.0 scale. A cumulative GPA is calculated every semester. Most students take the SAT and the PSAT in their junior year. Some seniors also take the ACT and/or the SAT II.
