Community Service Program

Spring Street School recognizes the value of contributions made by each individual member for the betterment of the school and of our local community. Through organized, appropriate service experiences, the school’s goal is to foster a sense of community in both locations, as well as instill the value of service as basic to education. It is expected that each student will serve in a variety of ways, including participation in school clean-ups and projects, as well as assisting local community projects, non-profit organizations, and/or people in need.

All middle school students are expected to complete and document 10 hours of community service per year. All high school students are expected to complete and document 20 hours of community service annually, as a graduation requirement. All hours should be recorded and approved by one’s advisor who will be assigned by the end of September and will be responsible for helping to coordinate this. Although various kinds of support will be offered, it is ultimately the students’ responsibility to perform and record their service.
