Quality Education with a World View
Spring Street International School connects the classroom to the real world. We use an experiential education model that we believe is the most effective way to instill essential life skills and foster self-confidence through competence. Our curriculum develops academic and intellectual skills,
as well as physical, social, and character skills. Experiential education takes place within the classroom through simulations, modeling, role-playing, and mock trials that engage emotionsto increase attention. Outside the classroom, we provide field trips, field studies, and a progressively more challenging series of adventure and travel experiences.
Our students begin in middle school with ropes courses, and then move to backpacking, rock climbing, camping, cycling, and sea kayaking. We learn Washington history by traveling the state to study geology, anthropology, and orienteering. In high school, students participate in a five to seven week program that may take them to Latin America, Europe, Africa, or Asia, where they study, work, and engage in community service.
Our students have lived with families in Mexico as part of our Spanish immersion program and helped build a micro-hydro electric project in Thailand before visiting the Dalai Lama’s compound in India.
We challenge our students to think for themselves and to be vital community citizens, both locally and globally.
